Understanding What DaDesktop Is Not

DaDesktop is a specialized software solution that does not yet fit neatly into a standard market category. To clarify its unique position, it is often helpful to define it by distinguishing it from other platforms and highlighting the key differences.

Online Conferencing

Does DaDesktop function as an online conferencing tool like Zoom or Teams?

Typically, DaDesktop is used in conjunction with communication platforms such as Zoom, Teams, Skype, or WeChat to facilitate interaction.

While built-in conferencing capabilities may be introduced in the future, this is not currently a primary focus for the product.

What commonalities exist between DaDesktop and platforms like Zoom?

Both platforms offer basic chat capabilities as a fundamental feature.

Public Cloud

Is DaDesktop comparable to AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, or Aliyun?

Public Cloud and Computing Cloud services are primarily designed for hosting applications. In contrast, DaDesktop is specifically engineered to enable human users to access and operate remote desktops.

What similarities can be found between AWS and DaDesktop?

From the end-user perspective, the two share few direct similarities. While both allow users to access a remote machine and execute software on it, AWS EC2 is tailored for system administrators, whereas DaDesktop is developed for training participants, trainers, course coordinators, and management teams.

Although some organizations continue to use AWS or other cloud services for delivering remote courses, a typical public cloud solution is generally more costly, less responsive, and less convenient than DaDesktop. The latter is purpose-built for course delivery rather than general-purpose computing tasks.

Learning Management System (LMS)

Is DaDesktop similar to Moodle, Rise UP, Open edX, or other LMS platforms?

LMS platforms typically focus on facilitating formal education, such as university courses, or are designed for self-directed online learning. DaDesktop, however, is currently optimized for instructor-led corporate training. Its primary target audience includes corporate and government employees, rather than school or university students.

DaDesktop emphasizes an instructor-led approach to course delivery, ensuring that the instructor is actively present throughout the session.

What features are shared between LMS platforms and DaDesktop?

DaDesktop includes a robust set of features that overlap with those of LMS systems, often exceeding their capabilities in specific areas.

With DaDesktop, course administrators can enroll students, monitor attendance, analyze student engagement, verify connections, and even record screens during live sessions.

These functions are performed largely automatically. For instance, trainers do not need to manually check attendance, as the data is already recorded in the system. DaDesktop can track user location, connection duration, specific exercises completed, and those that were missed, among other metrics.

Participants who are unable to attend a live session can review recordings and practice in an environment identical to that used by students during the live course.
