PC Farm (Bare Metal)

Beyond cloud-based options, DaDesktop offers access to physical, bare metal Desktops or Servers.

This setup is designed for scenarios requiring one physical machine per participant. It is commonly employed in use cases where users need direct access to:

  1. complete servers operating without virtualization, often driven by performance or licensing constraints (e.g., ONAP, OpenStack)
  2. hardware that cannot be virtualized, such as specific GPUs, Mellanox cards when firmware modifications are part of the training, or other network equipment

Additionally, this solution integrates seamlessly with existing physical classrooms, requiring only minimal modifications. This flexibility enables trainers to prepare the environment remotely, without the need for on-site presence.

Cloud Desktops can be leveraged directly and deployed onto participants' physical machines.

Requirements for Onsite Deployment

Utilizing this solution necessitates the purchase of physical control cables (known as ddnexus), with an approximate cost of 100 USD per Desktop.

To get started, simply select Metal PC when creating a Standalone or Fresh-start desktop.
