FAQ (DaDesktop for Training)
1. Regarding Power BI and VBA, does DaDesktop (DD) include Excel? (Since MS Excel functions are necessary)
- MS Office is not pre-installed within DD (on Win10 & Win11 Pro). We provide a DD VM and a Training room environment.
- Trainers are expected to prepare free-trial accounts for all delegates to access MS Office.
- Alternatively, delegates can use their own personal MS Office accounts.
2. Can I transfer files from my local desktop to my DD desktop?
- Yes, we have implemented a straightforward method for uploading files from your local machine to the DD Desktop. Currently, the limitation is that only one file can be transferred at a time. To work around this, you can easily create a zip or archive file containing all required documents and then upload that single archive.
- If you utilize cloud storage, remember to log out of your cloud account before cloning the environment to delegates.
3. Why is the text in DD blurry, unclear, or even invisible?
- If you are using the Chrome browser, navigate to "chrome://settings/system" and disable the Hardware acceleration option.
4. Do Trainers have access to the NobleProg wiki?
- No, as per the Terms and Conditions available here, trainers are not permitted to access the wiki directly.
- If you need to send content for editing on the NobleProg wiki, please copy & paste it and email it to the trainer; submitting a PDF is also acceptable.
5. Which domains should be whitelisted when using proxies or content/network filtering to ensure optimal performance?
You should whitelist any domains that match the following patterns:
- *.npg.io
-
https://dd4t.dadesktop.com
For any further inquiries, please reach out to DaDesktop Support.
6. How can I create multiple desktops in DD, similar to Ansible Training setups?
- Trainers can initially configure the DD settings, including RAM, CPU, and disk resources.
- Next, install Virt Manager or VirtualBox within DD to set up multiple virtual machines and configure the networking between them.
- Once the setup is complete, you can clone the environment to delegates within seconds.
- If you require assistance, please contact DaDesktop Support.
7. What is the server capacity?
- Capacity depends on the specific server hardware.
- For instance: 512GB of RAM can support a workload equivalent to 512GB *3.
- The maximum disk space per server is 250GB, with 16 CPU threads allocated per desktop. RAM configurations can be customized as needed.
8. Can I download videos from the Training Recordings?
- Yes, recordings are now downloadable via the three-dot menu located to the right of the video player.
- The videos include voice recordings if the audio from the training room was captured.
9. Which browser should I used for DD?
- Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Opera operate without issues.
- Other browsers, such as IE, are not fully supported.
10. Why is there a significant delay using DaDesktop?
- Verify your network connection, as DaDesktop performance is dependent on your local connection speed.
- Check the server location; when the coordinator creates the desktop, they always select a server geographically close to the participants.
- Disable your VPN or switch it to PAC mode. Additionally, disable any security applications, particularly those that interfere with WebSockets, which are essential for smooth DaDesktop operation.
11. Websocket is blocked or not supported by network
Accessing Remote Desktop relies on Websockets
- The issue may stem from your device blocking Websockets. Review your settings or configurations that might be obstructing Websockets. For example, on some Chromebooks, if "Use the same proxy for all protocols" is enabled within proxy settings, Websockets will fail (as it sets a "SOCKS host" proxy). Uncheck this option and leave the "SOCKS host" field blank. This should resolve the issue.
- Alternatively, the blockage may occur at the network level rather than on your device. In this case, you will need to contact your network administrator to request that they unblock Websockets.
12. What support do you provide for GPU, for example for 3D applications, etc ?
- Please refer to the GPU support page for detailed information regarding GPU capabilities.
13. Are there any known issues or specific answers to common concerns?
- Generally, using DaDesktop is comparable to using a standard Windows or Linux machine; however, minor issues may arise when using specific software applications in a training environment, particularly during the machine cloning process.
14. Do you support Mac-compatible programs or Mac Emulation?
- No, we do not provide support for Mac-compatible programs or Mac Emulation, primarily due to licensing constraints that frequently arise.
